Tanzania Market Watch | June 17th 2015: Tanzania equity market adds TSZ 50 billion and index up by 0.17%
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) rose by 4.86 points or 0.17 percent to close at 2,833.80 points and market capitalization recorded at TZS 24,803.07 billion (an increase of about TSZ 49.60 billion against previous trade session market cap of TSZ 24,852.67). However, the domestic Share Index declined by 0.70 points or 0.01 percent to close at 4,769.94 points.
From the market activity angle, a total turnover of TZS 1,316.61 million from 216,431 shares traded in 33 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 5,093.49 million from 637,240 shares traded in 79 deals. On Pre-Arranged board, Tanzania Breweries Limited had 80,000 shares traded at 15,000 per share in 1 deal. CRDB recorded 130,370 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 455 per share in 20 deals.
The market sentiment was positive today, with 4 losers and 5 gainers. Kenya Airway Limited gained 15.38 percent with a closing price of TSZ 150 and Jubilee Holding Limited edged by 7.35 percent to close at TSZ 12,410. Equally, TOL GAS Limited climbed by 3.33 percent to close at TSZ 620.00 and Acacia Mining PLC added 0.11 percent to settle at TSZ 9,510.00. On the other hand, UCHUMI Supermarket Limited tumbled by 9.09 percent to conclude at TSZ 200.00 and National Microfinance Bank plunged by 5.04 percent to end at TSZ 3,960.00.
From the sector perspective, Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index and Commercial Services sector index remained flat at 6,137.14 and 3,723.07. However, Industrial & Allied sector index fell by 0.02 percent or 1.31 points to end at 6,138.45.
